|Unlike many of the suspiciously cheap reproductions available on the web, I do not over-paint giclee prints - which apparently is what many of the international web-based companies are offering (mainly from far-east 'sweat-shops').
'Hand-painted' giclee prints no doubt offer good value for money and can be faithful reproductions of the grand masters - and the 'hand-painted' claim is technically and legally correct because real paint has been applied by hand, however...
In contrast my 'repros' are more strictly 'homages', and although may not be entirely accurate they are real paintings and have taken many hours to complete - and are, in their way, unique.
Why paint repros? Initially it was a way of learning for me, but I soon discovered that in this respect art is like music - many people would rather go and see a quality tribute-band playing Beatles or Kinks classics than risk experiencing the latest manifestation of 'britpop'. Which may or may not be a good thing.
